About Us
Solutions for Climate Network (SCN) is a Community Based Organization founded in 2025, Lira to promote climate awareness, environmental storytelling, and media activism at the local level. SCN seeks to use innovative communication tools such as radio, school clubs, community dialogue, and digital storytelling to build a climate-aware generation and amplify community-led solutions.
Background/Problem Statement
Lango sub-region faces rising environmental challenges such as deforestation, poor waste disposal, erratic rainfall, and declining soil fertility. While climate change impacts are being felt at the grassroots, there is still limited awareness and action, especially within schools, rural communities, and even among journalists.
Access to climate information is often limited, and storytelling around environment and sustainability lacks the visibility and urgency it deserves. There is a need for a localized, people-driven approach to climate communication—one that empowers citizens, students, and journalists to amplify climate action through media and community engagement.
Overall Goal
To build a strong culture of climate change awareness and action in Lango through strategic environmental communication in schools, communities, and the media.
Strategic Objectives
- Build capacity among journalists and media practitioners to report accurately, consistently, and impactfully on climate and environmental issues.
- Document and amplify local climate stories and grassroots innovations to inspire sustainable solutions across Lango Sub region.
- Promote climate literacy in schools by establishing Eco-Media Clubs
